Driver loses control of asphalt truck and causes accident

Semi truck drivers in Wisconsin are often required to undergo intense training and testing to ensure that they are qualified to handle driving such a large vehicle. These safety trainings may be important in saving the lives of thousands every year. In a semi accident, the smaller car may be the one that is more damaged, and the occupants of the smaller vehicles may be at a greater risk than that of the truck driver. If a driver can't maintain control of his vehicle, the consequences may be both inconvenient and deadly.

A semi truck driver in Virginia was cited for failing to maintain control of his vehicle after an accident ruptured the tank on his truck and spilled asphalt all over the highway. Law enforcement officials also claim that the driver was speeding at the time of the accident.

The tanker truck was merging onto the interstate when another truck located in the middle lane veered over and the tanker truck flipped on its side. The spilled asphalt backed up traffic for six miles on a busy interstate and was not cleared until seven hours after the initial crash occurred.

Although it appeared that no one was injured in the accident, some injuries may become more prevalent as time goes on. One smaller vehicle was hit during the accident, and the truck driver may be held responsible for damages that occurred to the vehicle and any injuries that occur from the accident because police claim he was speeding and did not have control of the tanker truck when it crashed.
