4-car accident results in personal injury in Wisconsin

Three individuals have suffered injury in a four-vehicle accident that happened along Wisconsin 42, not far from Egg Harbor. According to the Door County Sheriff's department, they received the first call about the accident at 4:49 p.m.

The accident report indicates that two individuals were traveling in a southbound car along Wisconsin 42. Another car was stopped in a southbound lane ahead of them with a left blinker indicating that he was in the process of turning off the road. The first vehicle did not see the one ahead of it in time to stop, and a rear-end collision occurred.

The force of the collision was so severe that it ultimately involved a total of four motor vehicles in both the north and southbound lanes of Wisconsin 42. The person in the second vehicle, the one that was rear-ended first, had to be extricated from his vehicle and authorities said he suffered from an incapacitating injury. The individuals in the first vehicle, which hit him, also suffered injuries, but did not require hospital care. The driver of that first vehicle allegedly informed police that she had not been paying attention just before the crash occurred.

In many cases, when a rear-end collision occurs, Wisconsin police will fault the driver who was behind the other vehicle in the crash. Indeed, a variety of factors can cause such a rear-end car accident, such as inattentive driving, distracted driving, drunk driving, speeding or negligence. Drivers responsible for causing injuries and/or deaths in a rear-end car accident can be held liable in civil court for financial damages and medical costs that stemmed from the crash.
