Wisconsin work injury fatally injures worker

The machine computer of a crane may not always register the complete weight of a load until it has been completely lifted from the ground. When an inappropriate load weight is attempted or moved, a crane may bend or break, risking serious work injury. Wisconsin construction zones can require additional employer care to avoid work injury and protect workers from harm.

A load that is too heavy or labeled wrong can result in extensive damage of machinery and risk the lives of workers and those in the area of the crane. A Wisconsin man recently lost his life in a tragic construction accident and was found near the base of a crane with visible damage. Reports detail the damage to include a bend in the boom, which can be indicative of improper load weight or malfunction.

Colleagues contacted the emergency hotline to seek paramedic help for the 30-year-old victim laying on the ground inside the construction site. Records indicate that, following the accident, those who attempted to resuscitate the injured worker were not successful due to the nature of his injuries. He unfortunately passed away after suffering a traumatic head injury.

OSHA has started an investigation into what may have caused or contributed to the accident. Work injury can be the result of improper weight labeling on a load that is set for transport or a problem with a crane computer. A Wisconsin family that has lost a loved one while working may seek help in collecting all available benefits, including workers’ compensation.
