Toyota wrongful death lawsuits coming to the end of the road

It has been a few years since rumors started that there was a sudden acceleration problem in some Toyota vehicles. It became more serious than rumors when there were repeat cases of car accidents, some fatal, connected to the purported technical problem.

Personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits ensued because of acceleration-related accidents, and years after the danger was identified, the first wrongful death lawsuit against Toyota based on the sudden acceleration has been settled. It is just one of many others that are to follow.

The Associated Press reports that neither Toyota nor the plaintiffs in this specific wrongful death lawsuit are disclosing the terms of the case settlement. Family of two 2010 Utah crash victims filed the particular lawsuit and can now move passed the legal stress that has put their lives on hold while also giving them a chance to seek some sort of justice following their loss.

Other plaintiffs targeting Toyota because of the mechanical issue will likely be impacted by this recent settlement. The hundreds of other victims should expect to be treated in a similar fashion as the plaintiffs in this case.

Car accidents happen for various reasons. We commonly see cases of victims who were injured because of a careless driver. But there are the rarer instances when a dangerous design or auto defect leads to a widespread problem that a manufacturer could have prevented with reasonable measures.

Our Wisconsin personal injury firm handles motor vehicle accident and wrongful death cases caused by any sort of negligence, whether it was on the part of a distracted driver or a big automaker.
