Milwaukee crash with UPS truck takes woman's life

When a commercial truck is involved in a motor vehicle accident, the potential for damage and injury is much greater than in crashes between smaller vehicles. Of course, any kind of auto accident is dangerous, but negligence on the part of truck drivers or truck manufacturers can have catastrophic effects simply because of the size and weight of the vehicle involved. Truck accident victims or their families should be aware of their rights and responsibilities after such a crash.

La Crosse residents may be interested in the complexities of a recent truck accident in Milwaukee. Sadly, a 57-year-old woman lost her life after a fiery collision with a UPS truck. One witness noted that the UPS driver was parked outside a residence after making a delivery. The witness said that after the driver got into the truck to leave, a small red car ran into the back of the truck, and both vehicles burst into flames.

The truck driver and a witness pulled the other motorist from the red car and gave her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. However, the woman was apparently unresponsive, and she succumbed to her injuries.

Police are still investigating the crash. A close look at the circumstances of the accident may help determine why the vehicles caught on fire, and the family of the deceased driver is no doubt looking for answers.

While police reports often play a major role in wrongful death or personal injury claims, such claims can still be filed regardless of the results of a police investigation. Family members who believe the loss of their loved one was due to another party's negligence should be aware of their rights under current wrongful death laws.
