One dead in two-vehicle Wisconsin crash on Highway 26

A driver was killed when a box truck lost control and smashed into a sedan on Highway 26 in the town of Nekimi. The fatal accident occurred between Cottonwood Avenue and County Trunk Z. The roads were said to be very icy and slippery at the time of the accident. The box truck driver sustained no injuries, but the sedan's driver was pronounced dead by officials at the scene. Highway 26 in the vicinity of the accident was closed for around three hours after the crash.

Weather conditions appear to have been a factor in the accident although the Wisconsin State Patrol is still investigating. An accident reconstruction was completed, but the results of the investigation and the name of the victim were withheld pending further study and notification of family members.

Truck crashes more often result in fatalities for the drivers of cars than for drivers of trucks, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. In fact, passenger-car and light-truck fatalities are more than 11 times the number of truck driver fatalities when cars and trucks are involved in multi-vehicle collisions.

A personal injury attorney may be able to work with the victims of a large truck crash to file a wrongful death lawsuit or a suit for injuries sustained in these accidents. A personal injury lawyer represents the victims and helps them protect their rights when they or a loved one are injured in a large truck accident. These accidents may be legally complicated, so having sound legal advice is usually a good idea when trying to collect from a trucking company or driver.
