ASC can help farmers hoping to avoid a Wisconsin work accident

Farm safety is often an important consideration for agricultural workers, farm owners and governmental agencies throughout Wisconsin. Many farm owners may find themselves confused about the best ways to conform with state and federal regulations regarding workplace safety. One Wisconsin group offers services that can aid farms in increasing safety for workers and hopefully decrease the likelihood of a work accident and resulting workers' compensation claims that can sometimes result.

That group, Agricultural Safety Consulting (ASC), is provided thanks to the National Farm Medicine Center at Marshfield Clinic and offers it services in both English and Spanish. The group conducts training on the topics of farm health and safety, along with other things like creating and maintaining safety programs. These can prove invaluable offerings for owners who prefer to focus their time on the actual running of their farms without sacrificing worker safety.

Taking advantage of the help that ASC provides could be especially important for Wisconsin farmers, considering that statistics show that deaths related to agriculture in our state rose drastically from the last reporting period to the most recent. In fact, deaths among agricultural workers jumped a staggering 66 percent. Among the 91 workplace deaths that happened across all of Wisconsin during that time, 32 happened to those working in agriculture. Throughout the entire nation, it is estimated that 90,000 agricultural workers suffer serious injuries each year.

ASC can assist those safety-conscious farmers who want to improve the work environment for their employees. Those workers who have already suffered a work accident related to agriculture may be able to file a workers' compensation claim, depending upon their circumstances. A successful workers' compensation claim can help injured workers gain financial security while they are unable to work, and many employers carry this type of insurance which is meant to protect their workers after suffering an on-the-job injury.
