Man charged with vehicular homocide

An Indiana man was killed in a crash near Prairie du Sac. A man from Windsor faces homicide charges because of the accident. A simulation of the accident showed that he was allegedly speeding at more than 20 miles per hour above the speed limit just before the crash. The man was ordered to appear in Columbia County Circuit Court. He is charged with vehicular homicide and negligence. The offense is punishable by as many as five years in prison.

Authorities say that the fatal accident occurred in the early PM at the crossing of Highways 188 and 60 in the town of West Point. The man charged with the felony was driving a Jeep Wrangler east on Highway 60 when his car collided with an Acura that was traveling north on Highway 188, say police.

At first, investigators thought that the Acura did not stop at the intersection. Then the Wisconsin State Patrol performed a simulation of the accident that showed that the slain man stopped and waited for traffic to pass. The simulation showed that the accused man was traveling at 69 mph in a 45 mph zone, swerved just before the crash and was going 54 mph at the moment of impact. Troopers say the crash would not have happened if the Wrangler had been traveling at 45 mph.

If the allegations prove to be true, it is most likely that the accused driver was negligent and the family of the man killed will have to cope with what is essentially a wrongful death. Attorneys working on cases of wrongful death tell the story of the deceased person in an attempt to secure justice and fair compensation.
