Prison time for driver in fatal crash that killed student athlete

Accidents involving multiple cars in Wisconsin can often result in life threatening injuries, or in the most tragic situations, in the death of one or more drivers or passengers. If a reckless driver caused the fatal car accident, the driver may face criminal charges in the event that a passenger dies during the accident. If the person doesn’t die instantly, the family members are left with expensive medical bills for the efforts to save the person’s life, not to mention the pain and suffering they feel from the loss of a loved one.

A young man is facing four year of probation and a 16-month prison sentence for his role in an accident that killed a young student athlete. The accident occurred in 2012, and the passenger was killed when he was thrown from the vehicle after it left the road and rolled several times.

The young man pled guilty to several charges, possibly to have a smaller charge dropped by prosecutors. Two other passengers were uninjured in the accident, and it is believed that the driver was driving at a high speed well above the speed limit when the car left the road.

Although the driver has received his criminal sentence for the accident, the family may still be entitled to a wrongful death claim against the man to help pay for medical expenses, funeral expenses, and the pain and suffering they endure on a daily basis. Any person who is facing the loss of a loved one due to the negligence of another in a car accident may benefit from consulting an attorney to determine if they should receive money for the trauma they have suffered.
