Wisconsin work accident in lumber company leaves 1 man dead

While many Wisconsin employers take workplace safety seriously, the sad truth is that fatal work accidents occur far too frequently. An unexpected death due to a work accident can leave families struggling with both emotional and financial hardships as they learn to adjust to life without a lost loved one. Workers' compensation law does allow many of these families to file for survivor's benefits in the wake of a loved one's death while performing their normal job duties.

One such fatal work accident recently claimed the life of a 30-year-old man authorities identified as a resident of Superior, Wisconsin. The man had been working on his own at a lumber company on a Tuesday evening in late May when the industrial accident occurred. According to reports, the man must have had either his clothing or arm get stuck in the apparatus of a conveyor belt.

It appears that, after his clothing was caught in the machinery, the man asphyxiated to death. A co-worker later discovered the man in a nonresponsive state. Other details in this case were few, but it has been reported that Wisconsin OSHA officials are investigating the circumstances that may have led up to this fatal incident.

A deadly work accident like this one is often extremely difficult for surviving family members to handle. It can be devastating learning that a loved one has unexpectedly died while simply doing his or her job. Losing a loved one's income can also provide further difficulties for some families. Those who find themselves in this kind of situation may wish to research their options for filing a claim for workers' compensation survivor benefits in order to keep their family from suffering financially while they are already struggling emotionally.
