Fatal crash in Wisconsin was caused by excessive speed

In order for all drivers to be safe on the road, laws must be obeyed and speed limits must be enforced. When a fatal car accident occurs, law enforcement officials may choose to reconstruct the scene in order to determine an accurate timeline of events. The facts from this report may give police valuable insight into who was responsible for the accident and whether or not charges should be filed against either driver.

A teenager from Illinois was killed in a fatal car accident that resulted in homicide charges for the driver of the vehicle who hit him. Although the man claimed he was not speeding at the time of the collision, reconstruction efforts by police found that he was actually traveling 24 miles over the speed limit, and that the accident could have been avoided had he been obeying the law.

The accident occurred in an intersection, and police determined from the reconstruction reports that the teenager could have cleared the intersection before being hit if the man had not been driving so fast. The driver also told officers that he was not sure if he tried to brake or steer to avoid the accident, suggesting he may also have been distracted and not seen the car.

Although the man faces a large fine and possible prison sentence, the family of the teenager is still left with medical bills to pay and a young son to mourn. With the evidence from the reconstruction report, the family may have sufficient evidence to help them if they decide to seek money to cover their expenses and suffering from the man who was driving the car that caused the death of their son.
