Highway accident results in injuries to pedestrian

With the ease and convenience of driving a vehicle, it’s become more rare for people to walk to their destinations. In order to protect both drivers and pedestrians, it is often necessary for both parties to be aware of the others, especially on major roads and highways. A pedestrian accident may have tragic and devastating results, and law enforcement officials may take certain measures to clarify whether or not any laws were being broken by either the pedestrian or the driver at the time of the accident.

Police are reconstructing the scene of an accident in Michigan after a man was hit and seriously injured while crossing a busy highway late at night. Police do not believe that the driver was impaired at the time of the accident, but have yet to release information regarding why the driver did not see the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was treated at the local hospital with serious injuries, and it is believed that the stoplight was flashing when he crossed the street, possibly suggesting to pedestrians that any crossings should be done quickly.

Stoplights and other traffic lights may be used as a way to inform drivers when it is time to let pedestrians pass, and vice versa. Even after a light has turned to favor the driver, it may still be necessary for the driver to check for pedestrians before proceeding through an intersection. If the driver is found to be at fault in the accident, with the help of an attorney the pedestrian may be awarded money for the injuries he sustained.
