Woman charged after killing a bicyclist while drunk driving

A Wisconsin woman has been charged with multiple offenses after she allegedly struck a bicyclist. Officers also believe that she abandoned her vehicle and left the scene after the wrongful death occurred. She was charged with homicide by drunk driving and negligent operation of a vehicle.

Investigators believe that the woman was traveling south before crossing into the oncoming lane. The woman claims that she swerved out of her lane to avoid hitting a deer in the road. The bicyclist's body was recovered from a nearby ditch more than three hours after the hit and run occurred. His bike had a GPS device attached, which showed the exact time of the accident.

According to the court records, the woman left her workplace late before heading to a bar, where she stayed until 2:15 a.m. She then headed to a separate bar and allegedly drank two beers and five shots, according to the bartender. The bartender stated that the woman was in no condition to drive but did not remember when she left. The bartender and several others picked the woman up after they were notified that she had been involved in an accident. The woman also reportedly texted her mother, telling her that she had hit a deer.

When someone is killed due to a driver's negligence, the driver may be held responsible for the death. An experienced Wisconsin attorney may be able to help the family of the victim navigate the litigation process. They may be able to provide legal advice for the family and review all the evidence against the driver. The attorney may also be able to help the family obtain compensation by working directly with the driver's insurance company to obtain the maximum amount for the victim's family.
