Wisconsin woman is suspected of causing a fatal crash

A Plymouth woman, who recently moved from Texas, is being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail on suspicion of causing an early morning crash that resulted in the death of another female driver. The accident happened on Highway 23 east of Fond du Lac near Seven Hills Road.

According to witnesses, the fatal accident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. when the Plymouth woman, who was driving a red Chevrolet Cavalier, tried to pass several cars while on the westbound side of Highway 23. A 53-year-old Fond du Lac woman heading eastbound had to swerve into the gravel shoulder to avoid colliding with the Plymouth woman.

As the woman slid back into the road, she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the center line. She was then struck by a vehicle driven by a 41-year-old St. Cloud man. The woman was thrown from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Sheriff's department, if the woman was wearing a seat belt, she would have survived the accident; the driver compartment of her vehicle wasn't damaged.

Police arrested the Plymouth woman on Highway 151 and Wonser Road west of Fond du Lac after getting witnesses' descriptions of the car. The woman was on her way to work in Beaver Dam. There is speculation that her hurry to get to work might have led to negligence and caused the crash resulting in the other woman's death. She was charged with homicide by negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Negligence can be the cause of wrongful death, and the family of the deceased woman might be eligible to receive compensation for their loss. A lawyer could be a valuable source of information and guidance as the family moves forward during this difficult time.
