5-year-old killed by drunk driver in Wisconsin

The death of a child is any Wisconsin parent’s worst nightmare. Knowing that it could have been prevented can be even more difficult for the parents, especially if the child’s life was taken at the hands of someone who was acting irresponsibly. Unfortunately, this is the situation that often occurs when people choose to drink and drive. Because they are intoxicated, their ability to drive is impaired and everyone with whom they share the road is put in danger.

A child lost his life recently due to a drunk driver in Somers, Wisconsin. The 5-year-old was riding in a car driven by a 20-year-old at around 6:00 in the evening when it was hit by another vehicle that had run a stop sign. The other driver was a 29-year-old man who authorities suspect was drunk at the time of the car accident.

The impact sent the little boy’s vehicle spinning and made it roll over a couple of times. The driver was transported to the hospital, but the little boy succumbed to his injuries.

The drunk driver is facing numerous charges including homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and because he was driving with a revoked license, operating after revocation causing death. He was taken to the hospital after the accident where authorities are guarding him.

The family of this little boy would be well advised to consult with a personal injury attorney regarding their right to compensation for his death, funeral expenses and other damages. Although nothing can make up for the pain they inevitably feel, ensuring that they are properly compensated may enable them to begin the process of healing and moving forward.
