Man charged with homicide after car wreck leaves one dead

A 43-year-old Wisconsin man was charged with homicide by operation of a vehicle while intoxicated following a car accident that left one individual dead. According to the report, the man hit two vehicles while he was driving the wrong way on a highway lane.

A 21-year-old driver of one of the vehicles did not survive the accident. The driver of the second vehicle sustained non-incapacitating injuries. The man was allegedly found to be impaired. The report also indicated that alcohol was present at the scene of the car accident. In addition to the homicide by intoxication charge, he also faces two misdemeanors of causing injury by operation while intoxicated and causing injury by operation with prohibited alcohol concentration. He was released on $250,000 bail on Oct. 2.

When a wrongful death occurs, a skilled Wisconsin attorney may be able to help the family of the deceased individual. For example, if it can be proved that the fatal accident was not caused by the deceased individual, the remaining family members may be eligible to seek compensation to help them cover the costs caused by the accident. For example, this compensation may help pay for funeral costs, medical costs, lost wages, lost companionship and punitive damages.

In many cases, the insurance company may attempt to pay the family less than what they need to fully cover the financial costs of the accident. If this happens, the attorney may attempt to negotiate with the insurance company by demonstrating the full costs using any evidence available from the accident. In addition, the attorney may also be willing to provide a strong representation in court on behalf of their clients in the instance that the insurance company refuses to settle.
