Semi-truck and pickup collide in Wisconsin, injuring 2

Just as semi-truck drivers need to be aware of other vehicles on the road in Wisconsin, so too do automobile drivers need to be aware of the unique way a tractor trailer handles. Of course, because of its size, a semi is not able to stop as quickly as a regular-sized vehicle. This is even truer if the trailer is carrying a heavy load. Semi-truck drivers need to be aware of this and give themselves plenty of time to come to a complete stop at intersections and stop signs. At the same time, automobile drivers need to also realize that trucks need more time to stop, so cutting in front of them can be very dangerous.

One pick-up truck driver learned this lesson the hard way recently in Sawyer County, Wisconsin. The 77-year-old apparently did not yield at a stop sign at State Highway 77 and Twin Lakes Road and drove out in front of a semi-truck in the intersection. The two vehicles crashed, causing the semi to roll. Miraculously, neither driver was seriously injured in the truck accident. They were both taken to local hospitals where they were treated and later released.

Of course this accident could have been much worse, but it could have been prevented all together had the driver of the pickup truck been paying attention and following the rules of the road. The 66-year-old driver of the semi-truck may wish to consult with a personal injury lawyer about his right to compensation for his injuries, pain and suffering and medical bills as a result of this accident.
