Millions of vehicles recalled by Volkswagen and 3 other companies

Wisconsin vehicle owners might with to know that approximately 2.6 million Volkswagen vehicles are being recalled for repairing the drive-system and other electronic flaws. This recall is in addition to other November recalls by Mitsubishi Motors Corp., Toyota Motor Corp. and Chrysler Group. All of these recalls are disclosing the many negative aspects of the addition of advanced technology that has become increasingly sophisticated in newer model vehicles.

In March, Volkswagen also ordered a recall in China of 384,181 vehicles following complaints regarding loss of power, vibrations as well as sudden acceleration issues with several models that were covered on Chinese state television. Their best-selling product worldwide, the Volkswagen Golf, was included.

The Nov. 14 recall has been compared to the Toyota recalls totaling 10 million vehicles that were ordered in 2009 and 2010 for potential involuntary acceleration that often involved shifting floor mats and accelerator pedals getting stuck. Now, on Nov. 6, Toyota announced a U.S. recall of 4,000 Tacoma 4-cylinder pickup trucks for the purpose of repairing engine valve springs. Chrysler is recalling approximately 1.2 million Ram trucks to repair a part in their steering system as well as 1,180 vehicles from China for the valve spring problem.

Although all of these recalls are aimed at making vehicles safer for consumers worldwide, drivers and passengers could be putting their lives at risk when they drive on the nation's roads and freeways. When an auto accident causes serious injuries or death of a loved one, whether due to product defect or driver negligence, a personal injury attorney could help by assisting the victims with the inner workings of their claim for compensation.
