Collision on Wisconsin highway causes SUV rollover, 1 killed

An early morning collision at the intersection of Highway 53 and County Road Y in Gordon left one occupant of a sport utility vehicle dead. Three other people in the SUV and the driver of a truck were injured in the crash. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol were tasked with investigating the collision.

According to the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, the SUV rolled over when it left the road after colliding with a truck at around 7 a.m. on Nov. 29. Three of the four people in the SUV were ejected in the collision, and a 31-year-old Minnesota man died at the scene. The four other individuals who were involved in the crash, including the 58-year-old driver of the truck, were injured. One of the four, a 61-year-old man, suffered critical injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Duluth, Minnesota, for treatment.

Rollover accidents often result in serious injuries or death to those who are riding in the vehicle. Unrestrained riders can be ejected from the vehicle, greatly increasing the risk or permanent injuries to the head, neck and spine, which could result in paralysis and diminished cognitive abilities.

A person who has been injured in a car accident for which they were not at fault could choose seek compensation for any related losses. He or she may be able to recover reimbursement for current and future medical expenses as well as compensation for lost wages and benefits. Identifying the categories of losses that are recoverable and pursuing a personal injury claim might be easier with legal aid.
