More than 1 million Michelin tires recalled

Drivers in Wisconsin and all over the country may be affected by a recall that was announced by Michelin North America during December. The tire company is recalling 1.2 million tires in the United States, some of which were the original equipment on Ford's full-size van line. The tires are being recalled because the tread may fall apart, which may cause some drivers to have a car accident.

Michelin became aware of the tread belt endurance issue from complaints of damages caused to 20 customers' vehicles and through warranty claims. Michelin says there have been no reports of injuries from the tread issues so far. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website, these tires were designed for certain pickup trucks, small RVs, full-size heavy duty vans and light commercial trucks.

Michelin reported to the NHTSA that during the third quarter of 2013, there were several reports of tread loss, irregular wear, ride vibrations and other issues relating to the endurance of the tread belt. The tire company says all of the tires may be affected by the defect, but so far less than 200 tires have been reported to have issues. These tires are stock on the Ford E-Series vans that were produced from 2010 through 2013.

Accident victims may suffer from a variety of mental and physical injuries. Professional legal counsel may be able to serve as intermediaries for negotiating and communicating with local authorities and insurers. Lawyers could also use official accident reports in order to identify liable parties related to accidents. By filing a claim, victims may be able to recover restitution for lost wages and medical expenses.
