Pregnant woman injured in collision caused by drunk driver

Driving while intoxicated can lead to serious, and oftentimes deadly, consequences. Because alcohol is a depressant drug, it works to slow down a person’s central nervous system. This directly affects abilities that are essential for driving a car. Reactions times are slowed and the ability to multitask is typically non-existent in drunk drivers. In addition, a driver’s vision and judgment can be severely impaired.

Drunk driver is being blamed for a recent car accident in Milwaukee. The 23-year-old woman was arrested and charged with second degree recklessly endangering safety and causing injury. Because this was not her first time being arrested for drunk driving, she was also charged with a second offense DUI. She was previously convicted of DUI in March of 2012.

The woman got on Highway 45 going the wrong way. She ended up crashing into a bridge pillar around 1:00 a.m. and then into another vehicle. During that collision, the woman’s front tire came off and crashed into a third vehicle. A woman who was six weeks pregnant in the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The drunk driver told authorities that she had smoked marijuana earlier that day and had two beers, two glasses of wine and one vodka prior to getting behind the wheel of her car.

This woman showed a blatant lack of caring about the safety of herself or others on the road. The occupants of the two vehicles with which she collided may wish to consult with a lawyer about their right to compensation for their injuries and damages done to their vehicles.
