Drunk driver hits and kills 15-year-old student

When a person chooses to drink and drive in Wisconsin, innocent lives can hang in the balance. Those who drive intoxicated often think they are not too drunk to drive and operate under the delusion that they are invincible. This can be a dangerous and often deadly assumption.

This was the case for a drunk driving accident that took the life of a 15-year-old teenager recently. The boy was driving to school around 7:45 a.m. when he was hit by an intoxicated 60-year-old driver not far from the high school. Although the teenager was wearing a seatbelt, he succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. The drunk driver was transported to the hospital and then on to a detention center.

Although authorities are still investigating the car accident, the drunk driver has been charged with controlled substance possession and felony DUI resulting in death.

Students at the high school were understandably saddened by the news. Along with the faculty, students gathered at the school to hold a moment of silence the day of the accident. A friend of the boy’s described him as having a great sense of humor and always caring about others.

The family of this teenager has experienced a great loss, made even greater by the fact that it could have been prevented had the other driver chosen not to drink and drive. They may wish to speak with an attorney about possible litigation against the drunk driver to ensure that they are properly compensated.
