Wisconsin crash kills 1

A two-car accident that occurred in near Dodgeville caused the death of a Bolingbrooke, Illinois man on Dec. 30. The 24-year-old victim died when a westbound vehicle crashed into his eastbound car.

According to Iowa County authorities, at 11:32 a.m., a 60-year-old Linden woman was traveling along Highway 18 and drifted off the shoulder to the right. The woman reportedly lost control of her minivan and collided with the victim's car after her vehicle moved into the eastbound lanes. Both vehicles stopped in a nearby ditch, and, later, an emergency response team removed both drivers from their vehicles.

The 24-year-old victim died at the scene, while the other driver was transported to an area hospital. Her extent of her injuries were not reported. State patrol investigators are attempting to discover the cause of the accident. They were, however, able to determine that both drivers were using seat belts when the crash happened.

When a family suffers the loss of a loved one as a result of a car accident, they may face a number of emotional and financial difficulties. Economic damages involving the death of a loved one might include emergency medical care, final expenses and lost wages if the victim was employed. However, in many cases, a family suffering from a loss may be able to pursue compensation that may reimburse some of those damages.

If the woman driving the minivan is found to be at-fault after the police complete the investigation, the 24-year-old victim's family may be able to pursue a wrongful death claim against her in civil court. An personal injury attorney working with that family may help them by building a case demonstrating the extent of the damages suffered and filing the correct paperwork in court.
