Fatal industrial work accident investigation

Losing a loved one to a fatal work accident can be difficult for a Wisconsin family to work through. When an accident is the potential result of negligence on part of an employer, an investigation can be opened and enforcement actions taken. An industrial work accident investigated by OSHA can take up to six months to complete.

A recent agriculture event resulted in the unfortunate death of an industrial worker, employed as an independent contractor. Reports indicate this fatal work accident could result in as much as $70,000 in citations if the investigation finds responsibility or cause for the work accident. Investigations can include an analysis of labor codes and their enforcement, violations and safety procedures.

The man was part of a team hired to be responsible for cleaning equipment for the agricultural exhibition. The man, age 43, was in a trailer on the event campus when it rolled over an elevated section of ground. The jarring caused him to fall and become pinned. He was fatally injured.

Reports indicate that an autopsy is set to be conducted, which is standard in a fatal industrial work accident, and results may reveal any additional information in the man's death. OSHA is responsible for the investigation into the fatality due to the situation exceeding simple medical observation and a 24-hour hospital visit for the victim. The family of a Wisconsin industrial employee who is fatally hurt at work may choose to seek all available workers' compensation benefits to help with expenses, regardless of the outcome of an investigation.
