Storm blamed for multiple car accidents in Wisconsin

With the snow and ice that accompany Wisconsin’s winters, the roadways can become potentially deadly places. This is why it is so important for drivers to be aware of the conditions and adjust their speed accordingly. Obviously if the road is wet, icy or snow packed it is smart to slow down and proceed with caution, particularly when attempting to navigate turns or pass other vehicles.

A recent storm during morning rush hour wreaked havoc on traffic. The weather was blamed for a number of collisions and slide-offs. One car accident occurred near Elkhorn on Highway 12/67 when a car crashed into a power pole, causing power lines to fall across the road. The highway was closed while authorities worked to clear the roadway, a task that was estimated to take up to eight hours.

Another collision on the same morning ended with a 44-year-old man from Oregon being killed. The fatal car accident occurred on Highway 51 near Stoughton when the man was attempting to round a curve. He crossed over into the opposite lane and crashed into a car and pickup truck. The drivers of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries.

Two other accidents were reported that morning. One occurred on Highway 12 near Cambridge and the other on Highway 14 near Janesville. Both highways were closed because of the collisions.

Those who sustained injuries or received damages to their vehicles as a result of these accidents may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney about their right to compensation for their medical expenses and damages.
