Serving Injured And Disabled Clients In Minnesota and Wisconsin

Fundraiser held for Wisconsin man with brain injury

Those who sustain major brain injuries often require extended medical care, including long-term rehabilitation therapy. These costs can add up quickly, and even those who have insurance or disability benefits from their employers can face mounting medical bills and expenses. In some cases, like the following, it may be necessary for victims to find other ways to make ends meet.

A Wisconsin man who suffered a traumatic brain injury in a car accident is making progress in his recovery but is facing an uncertain financial future. According to reports, the 28-year-old man was in a coma for 17 days after the crash on Oct. 9, 2013. He also suffered a skull fracture, nerve damage and a broken collarbone. He has since learned to walk again, but he still has issues with his short-term memory.

The 28-year-old was formerly a worker for UPS and is trying to go back to work because his short-term disability is almost over. To help with expenses and ease some of the stress, his family decided to set up a Facebook fundraiser. The family chose a month-long Facebook fundraising event after determining that it would be too difficult to get all of the family together for a one-day event. Handmade and donated items are being auctioned off for the fundraiser, which started March 1, and each week's items center around a different theme.

The terms surrounding the man's car accident were not clear, but for those facing similar situations, filing a personal injury suit may be another option. If catastrophic injuries are incurred in an accident that is the fault of another or due to some type of negligence, a personal injury attorney can help victims understand their options for receiving compensation.
