2 motorcyclists dead after hit-and-run collision

As the weather continues to warm up in Wisconsin, there will likely be more and more motorcyclists on the roadways enjoying the mild temperatures. Automobile drivers need to be aware of bikers and take into consideration their unique driving abilities. Because a motorcycle provides no protection around the biker, when one becomes involved in an accident, the results can often be deadly.

This was the case in a car accident that occurred recently on Highway 14 just outside of Janesville, Wisconsin. Five motorcyclists were riding staggered westbound on the highway when an SUV crossed the centerline and hit the first two bikers head-on. The other three bikers were able to swerve out of the way in order to avoid getting hit. Instead of stopping to help the motorcyclists, the SUV fled.

Medical personnel responded to the scene where the 24-year-old motorcyclist who was hit first was pronounced dead. The second biker hit was an 18-year-old man who was pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital.

Authorities are still searching for the SUV responsible for the hit-and-run. They believe it to be a 2004-2007 Nissan Infinity QX56 and suspect that it has a missing headlight assembly along with damage to the front of the vehicle.

Although the driver who caused this accident has not been apprehended yet, the families of the men killed in this accident may wish to speak with a personal injury attorney. A lawyer can review their case and advise them on their right to compensation for the death of their loved ones.
