Another recall for General Motors SUV owners in Wisconsin

General Motors has announced that there will be a recall on some of the SUVs that the company produced, which are in use in Wisconsin and across the United States. Apparently, there could be issues that impact the reliability of the fuel gauges. The recall is reported to be aimed at 51,640 SUVs. Three different models are being considered, and they are the Buick Enclave, the GMC Acadia and the Chevrolet Traverse.

The issue is related to software, which could mean that the gauges do not display the correct fuel levels to the drivers. The differences are on both the high end and the low end of the gauge. On either side, it is estimated that the error could change the reading by around one quarter of the tank's full capacity.

Software reprogramming services are being offered to the drivers of these vehicles at no charge to them.

While running out of fuel could be problematic, this is a safety issue as well, according to GM. They released a statement about how inaccurate readings could cause the vehicles to unexpectedly run out of fuel when they appear to have plenty left. This would then make the car stall, and it could happen in traffic. That, in turn, could lead to an accident and potential injury to those in the vehicle.

Anyone who drives one of these vehicles should look into the recall to see if they are eligible for the free software alterations. If they have been involved in a truck accident due to the SUV's stalling out, they could also consider starting a lawsuit to get assistance with medical payments and other losses that could result.
