Two injured in Wisconsin semi accident

In most cases, the bigger the vehicle, the more protection it offers in a car accident. When it comes to a tractor trailer accident, however, even a large SUV is likely to sustain serious damage, as shown in a recent crash.

A Wisconsin accident involving an SUV and a semi truck has left two people injured. The accident occurred on April 29 around 12:30 p.m. in Grand Chute, Wisconsin. According to reports, the SUV was at the intersection of Bluemound Drive and W. Northland Avenue when the driver attempted to turn left.

The tractor trailer was apparently traveling in the opposite direction. Police report that a green light was present for both vehicles. The semi apparently hit the passenger side of the SUV and caused severe damage to the vehicle. Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the crash because a commercial vehicle was involved.

The 74-year-old driver of the SUV and the 53-year-old driver of the semi truck were transported to the hospital with injuries that were deemed nonlife-threatening. It was not immediately clear if either of the drivers were cited, and reports did not name who was found at fault.

Accidents involving semi trucks often involve more severe damage to the other vehicle and can cause serious injuries for all of those involved. Truck drivers must take care to implement the proper safety procedures and follow all federal trucking regulations to reduce the risk of an accident caused by negligent truck maintenance or an overtired driver. For those injured in an accident involving a semi, the subsequent crash investigation is crucial to the possibility of being awarded any monetary compensation in a personal injury suit.
