Wisconsin semi accident injures 3

For tractor-trailer drivers who are paid by how much they drive, it can be tempting to driver longer hours and more miles in an attempt to deliver more cargo faster. Life-changing accidents can occur from overtired or inattentive drivers, and determining which party was at fault in a semi accident is crucial to the chances of any kind of civil litigation.

A May 23 accident involving a Chevrolet Impala and a tractor-trailer has left three injured. According to reports, the tractor-trailer was transporting a load of cattle in Eau Galle, Wisconsin, when the crash occurred in St. Croix County at the intersection of County Highway N and County Highway B. Police say that the crash took place around 11:00 a.m., when the 46-year-old man driving the tractor-trailer allegedly ran a stop sign, crashing into the Chevrolet Impala. The Impala was driven by a 35-year-old Wisconsin woman, and her two children, ages 2 and 14 months, were passengers.

The tractor-trailer driver was uninjured in the crash, but the mother and two children were taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The extent of those injuries was not specified. According to reports, the four cows that were in the tractor-trailer were able to be moved to a second truck. The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office was still investigating the accident at the time of reports.

Reports did not indicate what contributed to the driver missing the stop sign or whether or not it was accidental. In cases like these, it is important for authorities to gather all of the facts of the case so that the victims understand their options for seeking compensation.
