Authorities catch up to Wisconsin hit-and-run driver

It is the law in Wisconsin for those involved in an automobile accident to stop, no matter how small the damage may be. You are required to exchange information with the other driver including your name, address and registration number. If the other driver asks to see your driver’s license, you must comply. If anybody in the other car is injured, you are responsible to get help for him or her. Failing to do these things may constitute a hit and run.

This is the case for a car accident that occurred recently in Hamburg, Wisconsin. The 25-year-old driver who allegedly caused the accident ran away from the scene on foot, leaving his crashed vehicle on someone’s lawn.

The accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. when the 25-year-old driver veered out of his lane and crashed head-on into another car that was traveling in the opposite direction. The crash sent the second car off the side of the road where it came to rest in a ditch. The 27-year-old driver of that car sustained minor injuries, but did not require hospitalization. His 24-year-old passenger was uninjured.

Authorities found the driver who caused the accident the next day. The driver told them the reason he crossed the center line was because he was trying to avoid hitting a deer.

The driver of the other car may wish to speak with legal counsel about his case. A personal injury attorney can discuss with the driver his right to compensation for the damages done to his vehicle.
