What factors tend to contribute to road rage?

In a number of our posts, we have noted how road rage can be a significant contributor in auto accidents. After all, a majority of accidents are caused by driver error, and road rage can be considered an example of such errors.

But knowing what contributes to road rage is just as important as knowing how to prevent accidents caused by them. With that, we highlight some of the factors that can influence road rage

Personality traits – According to researchers who study people involved in road rage crashes, drivers who are anti-social and hostile are the most likely to incite these incidents. The same also could be said for drivers who are hypercompetitive and won’t back down or yield their position on the road.

Age – Arguably, the most aggressive drivers are younger men under the age of 30 who drive powerful, high performance vehicles. These drivers have developed an expectation that other drivers will get out of the way when they come down the road. When other drivers don’t yield, it could lead to problems.

Traffic enforcement – It is known that stretches of road that are highly enforced are less likely to have instances of road rage, since drivers do not want to be cited for speeding, unsafe lane changes. Conversely, in regions that are sparsely patrolled, the chances for road rage accidents may increase.

If have been injured in a road rage accident, remember that you have rights that allow you to be compensated for your injuries. An experienced personal injury attorney can advise you.
