Recent tragedy just one of many car accidents at intersection

Nearly every city in Wisconsin has at least one intersection that sees more crashes than others. If drivers fail to pay close attention, car accidents occur. A serious accident that recently occurred at one of these dangerous intersections gave police the opportunity to remind drivers to remain vigilant on the roads.

The accident took place at the intersection of Highway U and a secondary road called Two Mile Road. The only traffic control devices are stop signs on the secondary road. A 58-year-old man was headed west in his SUV, requiring him to stop before proceeding across the highway. As the SUV entered the intersection, it slammed into a car traveling south.

The impact sent the wreckage of the car, which was occupied by three teenage girls, into the yard of a resident. The SUV driver and the three girls all suffered what were described as serious injuries. Three of the four involved were taken to a hospital in the area via ambulance. The fourth, who remained unidentified at the time of this writing, had to be flown from the scene. No updates on their conditions were reported.

As is the case in other car accidents, authorities are attempting to determine factor or factors that led to this crash. The victims of the crash will undoubtedly also be interested in the answers sought by officials. If the evidence establishes that their injuries were due to the negligence of another, a Wisconsin civil court could award monetary damages that could help with the financial burdens that typically accompany such tragedies.
