Car accidents not a usual occurence on a Wisconsin camping trip

When most people go camping, their concerns may range from thunderstorms to mosquitoes to running out of marshmallows. One thing they're probably not worrying about is car accidents. For a group of campers in Wisconsin, however, this unlikely disaster is apparently exactly what happened.

Seven individuals were recently injured while camping when a woman drove her vehicle through their campsite. According to police, the 32-year-old lost control of her SUV and crashed into a tent that contained the campers. She then apparently put the vehicle into reverse and backed over it, running over those still inside a second time.

The seven victims were all taken to various area hospitals for treatment of their injuries. While some of the campers were lucky enough to escape with comparatively minor injuries such as a broken nose, others were less fortunate; as of the most recent reports, at least two of the individuals were still in the hospital being treated for the injuries they suffered in the incident. The driver was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and causing great bodily harm.

The woman has since been released from jail on $500 bond. Unrelated to any criminal proceedings regarding her involvement in the crash, however, is the additional possibility of civil personal injury lawsuits against the woman should her victims decide to do so. Victims of Wisconsin car accidents who suffer serious injuries due to the negligence of another can turn to an experienced personal injury attorney for advice regarding claims for financial relief to help pay for their medical bills and reimburse them for other damages recognized by applicable laws.
