Wisconsin motorcycle accidents: Rider dies following crash

Motorcyclists frequently enjoy riding on the beautiful roads and highways across the state of Wisconsin. Most of them travel safely as they ride, whether simply for pleasure or to reach their destinations. However, motorcycle accidents can be catastrophic when other vehicles are involved. Recently, a motorcycle driver lost his life in a crash in Outagamie County.

The Outagamie Sheriff's Department reports that a 62-year-old man from Appleton was traveling west on a state highway. Witnesses to the accident stated that a car crossed the center line of the highway and struck the motorcycle in a head-on collision. The impact of the crash caused the man to land on the road after being ejected from his motorcycle. According to reports, the man died at the scene of the accident and had not been wearing a helmet.

The 20-year-old driver of the car, a man from Scandinavia, did not suffer any injuries. The highway had to be closed for several hours following the crash. The Grand Chute Police Department, the Greenville Fire and First Responders and Airport Fire worked with the Outagamie officers at the scene. The investigation of the incident continues with police officials.

Pending the outcome of the investigation, negligence on the part of the driver could be determined to be the cause of the accident. Survivors of the victims of similar motorcycle accidents may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. A Wisconsin personal injury attorney can assist families with the legal process. A successful outcome in litigation will never bring back a loved one. However, a monetary award can help family members pay for unexpected funeral costs and cover other monetary damages.
