Wisconsin car accidents: 2 dead following Rock County crash

Highway 59 in Wisconsin is a stretch of road in the state through beautiful farmland and scenic countryside. Though many travelers use the road for both business or pleasure to reach their destinations, car accidents can still occur there. Unfortunately, the highway was the scene of a recent horrific multi-vehicle crash that claimed the lives of two women in Rock County.

The Rock County Sheriff's Office reported that a 23-year-old woman from Milton was driving north on the highway early one morning. She drove into oncoming traffic after she crossed the center line. She struck a van driven by a 34-year-old woman from Stoughton. According to reports, the driver of the van died at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the car was standing on the shoulder of the road following the collision. Reports show that a car driven by a 30-year-old man came upon the accident, and the driver tried to avoid hitting the vehicles involved. His car struck the Milton woman. She was transported to a nearby hospital. The woman later died at the hospital from injuries suffered in the crash.

The man involved in the accident was not injured. The road had to be closed for over six hours following the crash. An investigation of the incident is ongoing.

While losing loved ones in car accidents is devastating, the loss seems more tragic when it may have been caused by the negligence of others. Traveling the wrong way on a highway or failing to yield to stopped traffic are negligent or distracted behaviors that can cause accidents. Survivors of accidents of this type may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit against a driver or the estate of a driver if one is deceased. A Wisconsin personal injury attorney can work with families to achieve a successful outcome in litigation that can provide compensation for funeral expenses and pain and suffering.
